Dave Hodge
I was born in
Devonport, Devon, U.K.. Due to W.W..2 received my education in Hampshire,
returning to Plymouth in 1951, where I entered H.M. Dockyard. I served 5
years apprenticeship as a joiner/cabinet maker, which included woodturning.
Returned to the dockyard after 2 years National Service, in 1958.
I stayed there
until 1964 when I left to work in shop fitting, bar fitting and running
building sites. My last 20 years were spent making furniture for luxury
motor cruisers for a large international company. Around 1979 I renewed my
interest in woodturning, got more ambitious so that when I retired at 65 in
1999 there would be more to keep me occupied than coastal/moor walking and
gardening.
